In January 2026, Venessa Jones joined the Hope House Northern Colorado Board of Directors. Moving back to Weld County allowed her to fulfill her goal of becoming more involved with Hope House, an organization dear to her heart as a former teen mom.
Venessa had her first child at 17 and her second at 18. Her educational and parenting success was greatly aided by community resources, which helped her finish high school and attend college while becoming the best mom she could be. She understands the challenges teen moms face and the importance of access to resources provided by Hope House.
Originally from northern Wyoming, Venessa moved to Colorado in 2001. She earned her undergraduate degree in education in 2010 and her graduate degree in 2018, both from the University of Northern Colorado. With 15 years of teaching experience, she is passionate about working with youth and currently teaches high school in Weld County.
Venessa aims to empower teen moms, particularly through education, helping them recognize barriers and develop their strengths. She believes success is attainable through community support, grace, and hard work.
Today, Venessa is proud to have broken the cycle of poverty, abuse, and addiction for her three grown children and six grandchildren. Though her journey was challenging, it was ultimately successful.
